The Nepal Democratic Youth Council in USA (NDYCUSA) heartily welcomes the formation of new government in Nepal . With the inclusion of the Maoists in the government, Nepal ’s peace process has reached an important milestone towards holding the constituent assembly election and drafting a new constitution of Nepal . We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and his cabinet. We wish a good luck to the new government and hope that Nepal will successfully restore peace and hold the constituent assembly election. Nepali people and the international community are closely watching the Maoist goodwill. After entering both in the government and the parliament, the Maoists are now a part of the state. The time has come for the Maoists to fully transform themselves to a peaceful competitive party and behave like other mainstream political parties. The continued use of violence by the Maoists to pursue their political agendas will contribute towards more uncertainties, unrests and result into the failure of the peace process. Thus, we strongly urge the Maoists to stop using violence to pursue their political agendas and create a peaceful environment for free and fair elections. We also urge the government to take some new measures to maintain law and order through effective policing in all parts of the countries and show some seriousness and responsibility to address the demands of all agitating parties including the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF). We also urge all agitating parties to renounce violence and find some peaceful ways to express their grievances and demands. We would like to remind the agitating parties that with the formation of new government, Nepal ’s political scenario has been changed. Thus, in the changed context, it is in the interest of all stakeholders to solve all problems through dialogue and negotiation. Finally, we also request all members of Nepali Diaspora community, the international community, and all friends of Nepal to support Nepal ’s peace process. Nepal is in difficult transition and we believe that a strong international support is vital for sustaining peace in Nepal . Sincerely yours, Anand Bist
