July 13, 2007 The Nepalese Democratic Youth Council in USA (NDYCUSA) is deeply saddened to hear the news of demise of Sushila Koirala, wife of late BP Koirala. Sushila Koirala’s contribution to Nepal and Nepal ’s democratic movement is profound. She was one of the caring and brave women of Nepal who strongly supported her husband and the entire Koirala family in their political pursuit of establishing democracy in Nepal. During the crucial years when the Koirala family was going through a continued struggle for democracy, Sushila Koirala was always there as the hublest wife, a caring sister-in-law, and a great matriarch. Most of all, she was an inspiration in the field of art (dancing and acting), an icon of simplicity, and an example of humility. The NDYCUSA strongly feels that late Sushila Koirala will be missed by many Nepali. She will always be remembered as one of the simplest lady, who despite being an influencial person of a political family, never tried to use her power for her personal gains and interests. We pray for the peace of the departed soul, and express our heartfelt condolences to her family members, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, and all members and supporters of Nepali Congress Party.
